About

In my professional work in musicology, at first I mainly pursued academic research and university course instruction. However, I also did a recordings archive collection assessment

for UCLA’s Music Library Special Collections and served as the librarian of the Elora Festival

Singers, with which I also sang. In addition, I worked on web development, largely for non-profit arts and academic organizations, and volunteered in holds shelving and missing-item traces at the Waterloo Public Library. I have also written "public music history" books about the music of the Canadian band Rush and the British musician Peter Gabriel.

My first degrees were an Honours BA in Music and Applied Studies Co-op from the University of Waterloo (1989), then an MA in Musicology from the University of Toronto (1991) and doctoral coursework also at the Univeristy of Toronto (1991-93). After my PhD in Musicology from UCLA (2003), I later also completed a Co-op IT Certificate from Conestoga College (2010) and then pursued a Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) at Western University (2016-17).
